A heartfelt mahalo to everyone who joined us at our Northern California Roadshow in June 2025, proudly sponsored and organized by the Hawaii Captive Insurance Council (HCIC) in partnership with the State of Hawaii Insurance Division (HID).
The event was a tremendous success thanks to our dedicated participants and to our esteemed panelists who shared valuable insights about their captive insurance programs and what it means to be a captive owner in Hawaii.
Google graciously hosted our event at their beautiful Sunnyvale campus. Paul Shimomoto and Kim Teruya opened the event to welcome the guests. Andrew Kurata (Hawaii Deputy Insurance Commissioner & Captive Insurance Administrator) spoke next and offered a unique and candid perspective with some highly encouraging statistics about the domicile.
Our featured panel discussion with Susan Burchiel (Sutter Health), Denise Straka (Calpine), Bill Lyons (Recology) and Tilia Gode (Waymo) offered each speaker the opportunity to shar their captive’s journeys, detailing why Hawaii became their chosen second home for business. Ward Ching skillfully moderated the session, keeping the discussion lively and engaging.
The day concluded with great company, delicious food, and refreshing beverages, catered by Google Kitchens, and the participants left with some awesome swag from Google and the HID!
